Therapy is about understanding the self that you are, and how that self changes throughout your life. How the self that you are now, even if it is not what you think is your ideal self is normal and it shapes the environment and people around you.

I have a person centered approach to the therapeutic relationship where each session might be different based on the goals we plan together. You are the expert in your own life and only you know what your needs are. It is never over reacting to ask for the things you need and I am here to walk alongside you while you begin and walk through this challenging journey.

I believe that the beginning is always the most daunting step to take and I believe that you can get through anything that is given to you.

My therapeutic goal is to empower my clients to heal the wounds the world has given them, to develop a positive sense of self, and to move through grief that underlines many traumatic experiences. I typically utilize Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy. Seeking mental health help is brave and those who engage in therapy are courageous.

Clinical Areas of Interest and Training

My clinical experience includes working with Bipolar Disorder, Major Depression, Anxiety, Stress, Substance Abuse, Self-Injury, as well as Grief and Bereavement.

Previously, I've at several community health agencies that served people with dual diagnosis and co-occurring disorders. In addition, I've worked at several hospice agencies in IL as both a case manager and a family bereavement counselor.

Education

I earned my Master's degree in General Practice Social Work from Northeastern Illinois University.
